Underneath a large tree, a young couple was watching the different shapes of snowflakes fall from the sky. The girl had her hand out and a flower-shaped snowflake had landed in the center of her palm and she examined it. She smiled from seeing a snowflake up close and she blew it away into the cold air to join with the other ones.

Kiyoko Tenkou was with Medashi Hanabira, her best friend or rather, her new boyfriend. Ever since the Chunin Exams were over, they had been dating one another for about five months now and things had been going great between them. The pearl-haired shinobi couldn’t believe that she was actually with the man of her dreams and it made her feel like she was on cloud nine. The same could said for Medashi as well since he had been fighting against his own feelings for more than ten years.

They were finally happy together not only as friends, but as lovers as well.

“Medashi, can I ask you a question?” She had nuzzled into his shoulder, enjoying the feeling of having the older boy next to her.

“Sure.” Medashi tried to keep the tiny blush that was forming on his cheeks under control, but that was becoming difficult for him to do since she was being so honest with her feelings. “What is it?”

“Will we always be this happy? Will we always be able to just be with one another like this?” Kiyoko really wanted them to work out. She truly believed that the two of them were meant to be together.

“What brought this up all of a sudden?” The auburn was a bit confused from what his girlfriend was asking him. Was she showing some concerns about their relationship already?

“Well, when we told your family the news that we were together, everyone in your family was happy for us.” The brightness from her eyes had dimmed a bit from what she was about to say next. “But your father looked at us with such cold eyes…”

Now the memory was coming back to him. Medashi had found out that his father, Seiji, wasn’t too thrilled about his son dating, let alone someone that was four years younger than Medashi’s age. Seiji felt like Medashi was making a mistake by dating and it told his son after Kiyoko left that he shouldn’t indulge himself so comfortably with the whole dating scene. To say that Medashi was angry would be an understatement. He was downright livid and threaten him to stay out of his personal life.

“My father can go to hell for all I care.” Medashi answered coldly with a tight grip of his fist.

Kiyoko’s eyes had widened a bit from the auburn’s sudden shift of his voice. “Huh?”

“He’s nothing but a selfish asshole.” That anger was rising again and Medashi was trying to keep his composure around Kiyoko. “All he cares about is me becoming a mere image of himself - a cold-hearted shinobi who shouldn’t let love and freedom bound him.He sickens me and I can’t see how my mother is still in love with someone like that.”

“Medashi, sweetie, you know that’s not the right way to deal with this situation.” Kiyoko had took the auburn’s hand into her gloved one and clasped it gently while rubbing small circles with her fingers. She knew all too well that his Medashi’s relationship with his father was always a tough situation, but she wanted to at least be civil with him and not completely disregard him. “I know it might be new to him because he doesn’t approve of the fact that you’re becoming soft, but you’re very strong and you don’t regret anything that you do and that’s what I like the most about you.”

“Kiyoko…” “We both made the choice of wanting to be together despite of everything, but I’m gonna let you know something right now. I don’t ever plan to let you go and I don’t let my father make you feel anything less than what you are to me. I love you and that’s never gonna change.”

“I know that…” The pearl-haired kunoichi had pressed a tiny kiss on the auburn’s knuckles to try and calm him down. Even it was just a little bit. “...and I love you too.”

Medashi had looked at the girl in front of her and he felt that familiar warmth again. Whenever he was with Kiyoko, the warmth of her kindness would always soothe him in ways that he didn’t think was possible and it made him feel really good to know that she didn’t even have to try when it came down to doing that.

Now he knew why he loved her and he brought his hand to Kiyoko’s cheek and caressed her soft skin. With the snow constantly falling around them, she looked even more beautiful in his eyes.

“Hmmm? What’s wrong?” Kiyoko questioned as she placed her hand on top of Medashi’s and leaned into his touch.

“Kiyoko, you really do look like an angel tonight.”

Medashi’s expression had changed and he was now looking at her with such tenderness. It was always a rare and wonderful sight whenever he would show some kind of intimate gesture. It was even more special to Kiyoko because she would be the only one who would get to see that side of him. She smiled at him and cupped his cheeks with her hands as she gazed at him with loving eyes.

The auburn’s hands had made their way around the girl’s waist and pulled her closer to him, wanting to close the distance between them. That smile of hers had made him feel a little weak, but he was fine with that because they were together now. Leaning in, Medashi had pressed his lips against Kiyoko’s and she kissed him back with a gentle passion of her own.

The angels were truly looking out for them on this night.
