Assassin Path Mission#1 - Filing Scrolls
♥Benkei's POV♥
After waiting for so long, the day had finally arrived. It was my first day on my Assassin Path and I couldn't wait to start on my first mission. As I hurried down the streets of the village, I was nearly sprinting in order to get there on time. Apparently, my Mom had ruined the new alarm clock that I had bought for myself by breaking it with the back end of her frying pan. I can't believe that my mother was jealous of an inanimate object. I guess she just missed waking me up, which is the most painful and excruciating sound to hear in the early hours of the morning.
A few minutes later, I reached the Mikokage Office and dashed through the doors and headed up the stairs to get to the 4th floor. That's where all the offices for all the jobs were located at. I only hoped that I have an understanding squad leader, because I really don't want to get in trouble for tardiness on my first day. More minutes had passed and I had made it to the Assassins Office. I took in a deep breath as I swallowed a lump that had formed in my throat. I had took out a white towel that I always carried with me and wiped the perspiration away from my forehead.
“Well, this was it. Behind those doors, my journey awaits me...” I said to myself as I tried to calm down from anticipation.
As I grabbed a hold of the doorknob, I slowly turned it and peeped my head in through the door. When I walked in, I was awe-struck by everything I had seen in there. Book shelves were adorning the walls of the room, countless types of blades and swords were scattered neatly here and there, pictures of certain shinobi from the past were also on the walls as well. My first impression: I loved this place already!
“Well, hello there, young man.” An alluring voice had greeted in a cheerful voice. “You must be one of the new chunin recruits.”
I turned to my right and I had saw a woman leaning against the desk with a mirthful smile. She had dark brown hair, matching eyes, and a fair skin complexion. She wore black, rectangular-framed glasses. Her outfit was a one-piece body suit with pink accents around her sleeves and her upper shoulders. To complete her look, she wore a black bandana with the metal plate and the village engraved into it. I gotta admit. Her outfit was pretty awesome with it's spy-like features.
“Umm, who are you?” I asked with uncertainty.
She chuckled from seeing my nervousness and I watched her extend her hand as she offered it to me. “I'm Nazo Soushou, your Squad Leader. It's nice to meet you.”
Now it made sense. God, I could be so dense about certain things sometimes. Not dwelling on it, I smiled warmly at her and walked over to her. “Likewise. I'm Benkei Hotokegi, Lady Nazo.”
As I gently clasped her hand into mind, something felt really strange. I couldn't put my finger on it, but Nazo's hand felt a little damp for some reason. A second later, her face began to dissolved as if it was melting and I got slightly scared from seeing such a sight. Then, her entire body had slumped to the ground and turned into a pitch black puddled goop. Out of reflex, I screamed and ungracefully fell over as I landed on my butt. I completely panicked from her turning into that...that abyss-like mess...
“Lady Nazo! Are you all right?! What happened to you?!” I was freaking out and I didn't know what do. Did I cause this to happen? If so, I would seriously get punished by Lady Mikokage and she even had punishment rooms for those who truly angered her. I don't even want to imagine what happens to her troublemakers. Seconds later, a hand was placed on my shoulder and that only heightened my paranoia ten fold.
I skidded back as I jumped onto the desk, shaking like a shivering leaf and there in front of me was Lady Nazo, carrying multiple scrolls in her arms with a playful smirk. “L...Lady Nazo? Is that you...?”
Nazo just clicked her tongue at me and shook her head. “My, my, my. You need to loosen up a little, Benkei-kun. I didn't think you would get caught so easily in an weak genjutsu like that.” Nazo said with a wink as she handed me the scrolls that she had in her arms. “Well, there's no harm in having a little fun, now is it?”
“Well, I guess not, Lady Nazo.” I almost felt too apprehensive to even answer her.
“Well, I'm glad to hear that. So let's get started. I would like for you to file all these jutsu scrolls for me in order from date, element type, and damage rank. Can you do that for me, Benkei-kun?” The jonin had questioned.
“Yes, Lady Nazo. I can handle it.” From hearing her, I straighten up immediately and gave her a determined look, which caused her to nod in approval.
As I climbed down from her desk, I sighed in relief from the little stunt that she pulled. God, my nerves are so bad for someone to be so young. She may not look it, but Lady Nazo had a playful side to her and I walked right into that ink genjutsu that she cast on me. All in all, my journey was going to be an interesting one indeed. My genjutsu skills need some serious work or I'm not gonna make it pass the first hurdle on being an assassin...let alone to be able to walk in the office without fearing of walking into a genjutsu again...
